The New Museum of Contemporary Art

235 Bowery, New York, NY 10002
Designed by groundbreaking Tokyo architectural firm Sejima + Nishizawa/SANAA, this seven story museum lives up to its astonishing architecture by supporting pioneering under-recognized artists and emerging media pieces. Fueled by an appreciation that contemporary art was not naturally assimilating into the conventional exhibition spaces on offer, founding Director Marcia Tucker created the new Museum to provide a more suitable space to exhibit the art of today’s living artists. It has become Manhattan’s only dedicated contemporary art space and an icon worldwide for its bold and globally encompassing curatorial program. The New Museum holds three main gallery levels, as well as a theatre space, café and roof terraces.
