The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, or the Met, is the largest art museum in the United States, with over two million works in its permanent collection and seventeen wings. If you are a real art lover, you may want to plan to spend your entire day here, and even then you will need to come back to see everything that you’ll want to see. There are just so many amazing exhibitions going on at all times, it’s almost impossible to see it all. This is a cheap activity because, like many museums in NYC, the admission price of $20 is only a “requested donation,” and though it is common manner to pay the $20 in New York, if you really can’t afford it, they are very understanding. Give what you can and go on in to the endless mecca of art through the ages, old and new. Bring your family or friends and everyone will find something that captures their interest and imagination. Whether you have a taste for the Renaissance or for Modern Art, there will be something there that will blow you away. Some exhibits that you don’t want to miss are The Temple of Dendur where you’ll see Sphinxes, the Medieval Sculpture Hall, and the beautiful Astor Chinese Garden Court.
