Summerstage

During the summer, NYC is the place to be for high quality FREE entertainment. Why waste your hard earned cash buying overpriced tickets to huge concerts in hot, overcrowded venues when you can sit in the park, soak up the sun and take in great music… for free! AT&T’s SummerStage has lined up over 100 performances in 18 different parks throughout the 5 boroughs, with acts ranging from pop, latin, world music, poetry, spoken word theater, and even shows for kids and families. Central Park’s Rumsey Field hosts some of the top acts every summer, but you can find SummerStage events at many other parks in Manhattan. Most of the acts are free to the public, with the exception of a few big acts. Vendors sell beer for $5 and water for $2, as well as hotdogs and pretzels, but you are free to bring a picnic spread to enjoy while you take in the show. This is the perfect way to have an affordable and fun night out in the city. This summer, the SummerStage lineup boasts major acts like Rakim, DJ Cool Herc, Comedy Central “Stars under the Stars,” Marley Marl, The Metropolitan Opera, Charlie Parker Jazz Festival and so much more! You can even buy membership, which guarantees you express entry and guaranteed seating at more popular events. Check out the full calendar atcityparksfoundation.org/summerstage
