Staten Island Ferry

One of the biggest questions that most people have when visiting New York City is what is the best way to see the Statue of Liberty? There are a number of locations, tours and boat rides that allow you to get a great view of Lady Liberty. If you ask most New Yorkers, the best and cheapest way to see a great view of the statue and the skyline is by taking a ride on the Staten Island Ferry. Unlike many other boat rides around New York Harbor, the Staten Island Ferry is a municipal service that costs nothing. Running every 30 minutes, each trip lasts approximately 25 minutes and takes you on a scenic route between Manhattan and Staten Island, offering a great view of the Statue of Liberty as well as the Lower Manhattan Skyline as you pass through the harbor. The Ferry also runs pretty much all day AND night, making it a popular (and cheap) destination for fun-seekers. At night you can enjoy beer and snacks at the on-deck bar. The Ferry no longer transports vehicles, but bikes are allowed on board. You can board the ferry at the terminal, located near Battery Park. Take this free ride as many times as you’d like!
