Nuyorican Poets Cafe

With a long history of anything-goes open mic, poetry jams, comedy nights, theatre, music and visual arts, the Nuyorican Poets Café is a New York institution for the city’s arts movement. A non-profit organization, this café began in the early 1970s and has been the cradle for many the fine poet, including Lucky Cienfuegos, Bimbo Rivas and Victor Hernandez Cruz. The café has become known as ‘the most integrated place on the planet’ (Allen Ginsberg) due to its support for rising artist ‘from every background imaginable’. Amongst the many events regularly on offer, every first Saturday of the Month you’ll find a jazz jam and open mic and every Monday night you have the opportunity to witness (or perform in!) the open mic welcoming any art form.
