New York City Fire Museum

278 Spring St, New York, NY 10013
This beautiful early 1900s beaux arts building is fitted out with a diverse collection of historical firefighting tools throughout the ages. You can see everything from the original hand-pulled and horse-drawn engines to the modern day high tech fire fighting gear. So often unappreciated for the life threatening service they offer society, this museum provides a great opportunity to truly understand the amazing work firefighters do to keep us all safe. You can also find a memorial exhibition to those who died in the September 11 attacks, with photos, paintings and other moments. Retired firefighters are available to answer visitor’s questions in the morning and early afternoon.
