Japan Society is a peaceful, interesting space offering an introduction to the beautiful and amazing world of Japanese culture in the heart of New York. Founded in 1907 as a way to build the cultural bond and understanding between US and Japan, here you can find a substantial art gallery space with rotating exhibits, film and media area, library, language classes, conference rooms and cultural center with a range of performances and talks. Even the building itself maintains the classic simplicity and elegance Japanese style is known for, with a beautiful indoor garden, reflecting pool and waterfall. Free on Friday nights between 6 pm and 9pm
