Irving Plaza 17 Irving Place at 15th street
The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza, now officially known as just “Irving Plaza,” is a long running veteran music venue that has brought great musical acts to NYC concertgoers for decades. The theater features big names and popular musical acts as well as up and coming musicians and smaller, local acts. Originally dedicated to Rock music, the venue now hosts musical acts spanning all genres of music. Owned by the Polish Army Veterans of America, the theater has been closed and reopened many times through the years, often being reimagined. The inside of the theater has remnants of years past in NYC, with big red plush couches in the lobby, and a gold plated vaulted ceiling with red and purple neon lights. Many world famous acts have performed at Irving Plaza, including the Ramones, Talking Heads and many other Punk and New Wave acts. The theater holds about 1000 people, and has 3 levels of standing-room-only, in the style of a main ballroom with balconies overlooking the ballroom floor. Smaller opening acts that perform here famously return years later as well known headliners, including Dave Matthews Band and other big names. Catch a concert at Irving Plaza and enjoy a truly “New York” night on the town.
