Gramercy Flatiron/Union Square

Gramercy is an extremely desirable neighborhood, built around one of New York’s most historically famous landmarks and one of very few private parks in the city: Gramercy Park. The small, fenced in park and the beautiful residential neighborhood surrounding it has maintained its classic, luxury aesthetic since its inception 80 years ago. The quiet, safe neighborhood is a popular location for families and socialites, who live in old brownstones, carriage houses and Victorian mansions that were built in conjunction with the park itself. There are also private organizations such as the Players Club and the National Arts Club, which have their meeting places on the park. Access to the park is reserved for residents of the homes that surround it, who pay annually for a membership.
The neighborhood extends from 14th to 23rd street, and from First Avenue to Park Avenue. The small area is steps away from the exciting downtown destinations such as Union Square and the East Village, and it borders to Flatiron district to the west. The neighborhood has some of the oldest residential buildings in the city, The safe, quiet, family-friendly neighborhood boasts spacious townhouses with generous backyards. Beautiful Gramercy Park Hotel overlooks the park, and hotel guests have access to key to the park. There is plenty of high-end dining in the neighborhood including the Hotel’s Rose Bar and Jade Bar, as well as a rooftop restaurant. Many more restaurants and bars line the neighborhoods busiest street, Irving Place, including famous Pete’s Tavern and the popular music venue Irving Plaza. This little calming utopia in the middle of the city is a great place to settle down and live, and even better, you might just be next-door-neighbors with Julia Roberts, Karl Lagerfeld, Rufus Wainwright or any of the numerous celebrities residing in Gramercy Park.
