Brooklyn Botanic Gardens

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, or BBG, is one of the most impressive botanical gardens in the New York City metropolitan area. Located in Brooklyn, in the neighborhood of Prospect Park. An extension of the beautiful nature available in New York City’s largest park, the Botanic Gardens has a focus on varieties of plant life, horticulture and the art of garden landscaping. Famous for its “gardens within the Garden,” the BBG boasts a number of specialty gardens and collections, including a collection of over 200 Cherry Trees, the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, the Cranford Rose Garden, the Shakespeare Garden, and many more. The Children’s Garden is a huge community garden for the children of New York, and there is even a “Fragrance Garden,” specifically designed for the vision-impaired, with signs written in Braille and specially selected plants to touch and smell. There are even planting beds built at wheelchair-level. These, among many other gardens make this a beautiful place to explore and spend time. It’s also informative, offering educational programs and tours as well as the Steinhardt Conservatory, which houses and exhibits a Bonsai Museum, indoor plant pavilions, an aquatic plant house and an art gallery. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a beautiful place to spend the day whether you want to wander amongst the gardens, or learn something about plants.
