Times Square is one of the most spectacular destinations for people visiting New York City, because it really embodies the city’s larger-than-life feeling. However, native New Yorkers known that Times Square is often associated with high price tourist-traps. Of course, the sparkling lights of Times Square are still a must-see. However, when you do visit the midtown destination, you can save money by taking advantage of the free attractions. Large flagship stores such as Toys R Us or the Hershey Store are loads of fun for families, even if you’re not spending any money! If you want to catch a show while you are in town, avoid the draining costs of Broadway shows by keeping an open mind, and going to the ticket booths in Times Square to get tickets day-of tickets to a show for less than half the normal price! Those shows can still be a lot, though, so if you want to save even more you can opt for a smaller off-Broadway or student production. Or, even better, catch one of the city’s many nightly comedy shows for free !
